Goombay Smash

Goombay Smash

This was my wife's favorite drink on the cruise, the Goombay Smash, they are very addicting to say the least, you can have 3 or 4 without realizing it. The pineapple and coconut are always a great match and give any drink that tropical feel, this one is no exception. Here is how to make 1 serving ( although I doubt you'll want to make just one):

¾ oz. Spiced Rum
⅓ oz. Light Rum
¼ oz. Dekuyper Apricot Brandy
½ oz. Coconut Cream
3 oz. Pineapple Juice

Blend all ingredients together and then pour over ice. If you like garnish with a pineapple slice. Cheers!

Far Out

Far Out

One of the best tasting drinks I had on the cruise was called Far Out. We were sitting at one of the many bars on the ship, when the lady next to my wife ordered this drink, I didn't know what it was or what was in it, but she sure seemed to like it, I asked her about it, she insisted I take a sip (I never refuse free alcohol!) well after tasting hers I ordered one for my wife and myself and many more during our cruise. Here is how you make one:

½ oz. Bacardi Light Rum
1 oz. Melon Liqueur
½ Fresh Kiwi
1 oz Pineapple Juice
½ oz. Coconut Cream
4-5 oz. Crushed Ice

Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Pour into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a slice of the kiwi. Enjoy!

Island Delight

We had a great time on our cruise and we enjoyed many drinks, this is one of the first drinks I tried, it was listed on a drink menu in the bar next to the casino. I had never heard of this drink before and the name seemed appealing, so I ordered one. The mixture of banana and orange is great. Try one, you'll like it.

1 oz. Light Rum
1/2 oz. Creme de Banana (They used Dekuyper)
3 oz. Orange Juice

Blend all ingredients together and pour over ice. Very easy to make.

Vacation Time

My wife and I will be going on a short 4 day cruise this afternoon, so I won't be posting any new drinks or answering any email I recieve until Friday when I get back. We will be sampling as many different drinks as is humanly possible, so I'll have a lot of great recipes to share with you when we return. Cheers!

Apple Bay Breeze

Every now and then my wife and I like to go to this nice italian restaurant near us. The food is tremendous and the drinks are just as wonderful. Well a few nights ago we went and I ordered a drink called an Apple Bay Breeze, wow! It was great, a perfect balance of alcohol and fruit. Needless to say I had a few more before I left. The recipe below is for 1 serving:

1 oz. Pineapple Rum
1 oz. Sour Apple Pucker Liqueur
2 oz. Cranberry Juice
2 oz. Pineapple Juice

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, shake and strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon or lime peel.

Sex on Miami Beach

There are more variations of Sex on the Beach then probably any other drink. With that in mind I give you my personal concoction. This is good for one serving:

1 oz. Vodka
3/4 oz. Melon Liqueur
1 oz. Peach Schnapps
1/4 oz. Rasberry Liqueur
3 oz Pineapple Juice
3 oz. Cranberry Juice

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, shake and pour into a highball glass. This is a very refreshing drink, perfect for the summer.

Asian Pear Mojito

Asian Pear Mojito

My wife went to P.F. Chang's last night with a group of her girlfriends, and she said this drink was wonderful. She was able to sweet talk the recipe out of the bartender (don't ask me how!) So this is how you make 1 serving:

1 Tblspn Superfine Sugar
3 Lime Sections
5 Leaves of Mint
1 oz. Sour Apple Pucker
1.5 oz. Bicardi Limon Rum
1 oz. Pineapple Juice
Club Soda

Muddle (mash) the lime, sugar and mint leaves together. Add the Sour Apple Pucker, Limon Rum, & Pineapple Juice and shake with ice. Pour into a tall glass (highball or collins) top off with the club soda. Enjoy.

Purple Sour Banana

This is a great drink to start off the weekend, a couple of these and your ready to go. Here is how you make one:

1/4 oz. Banana Liqueur
1/4 oz. Blue Curacao Liqueur
1/2 oz. Sour Rasberry Pucker

First pour in the banana, then mix the curacao and raspberry together, then slowly pour it on top of the banana. The banana should be visible on the bottom of the glass while the raspberry and curacao turn purple. Doesn't matter if you drink it fast or drink it slow, just drink it!
